Open studio starts today, 4/29/11

The annual Toast Art Walk starts today at 6 pm. My studio will be open for visits. I'm excited to be showing the new pieces I'm working on. My new work is getting more abstract, but is still firmly rooted in correct internal anatomy. I like this interplay between loose and rigid I'm seeing. Here are two of the pieces I'm showing tonight:

I always enjoy opening my studio. Once during a studio visit someone asked me why I called my work "art." She was referring to this piece:

A pretty interesting conversation ensued. I've wondered the same at times, especially with my very tight anatomical work. I believe Marcel Duchamp answered this question about what art is definitively (at least for now) with his ready mades. It's all about the intention of the artist. To interpret lamely, if an artist calls it art, it's art.

The hours are Friday 6-9pm, Saturday 1-6pm, Sunday 1-6pm, and Monday 1-6pm.

My address is 67 Greene Street, between Broome and Spring, New York, N.Y.

The artwork is for sale. Most are limited editions of seven with one artist proof. I look forward to seeing you this weekend!

Based upon what I'm seeing in these photos let me get back to cleaning.

Hi Jan. Thank you!

Actually, you can have them on your wall. They are for sale. For fear of sounding like a used car salesman I'll leave it at that. Let me know if you're interested in a specific piece.

Thanks again.
